Trade between Germany and Romania totaled 40.8 billion Euro in 2023, with Romania ranking 17th among Germany’s trading partners, a rise of three positions compared to the previous year, according to AHK Romania.

The increase in the volume of trade compared to 2022 is 6.3 percent. Imports from Romania amounted to 19.4 billion Euro (+9.8 percent), and Germany’s exports to Romania reached 21.5 billion Euro (+3.3).

“We notice that Romania has risen to the top of Germany’s commercial partners. This fact shows us that the dynamics of bilateral trade relations between the two countries is maintained, despite the many challenges. Romania manages to convince many German companies that it is an attractive business location. Those companies that want to increase their resilience to international supply chains, as well as those that are looking for an innovative research and development investment location in Europe, are particularly interested,” says Sebastian Metz, Managing Director and Member of the Board of Directors of AHK Romania.

With this volume of economic exchanges, Germany remains Romania’s most important commercial partner.
