E-Distribuție Muntenia rebranded as Rețele Electrice Muntenia (p)

    Published on

Rețele Electrice Muntenia, part of PPC Group (previously named E-Distribuţie Muntenia), is the new name of the company that manages the electricity distribution grids in Bucharest and in Ilfov and Giurgiu counties.

This name change comes after PPC recently completed the acquisition of Enel’s operations in Romania. PPC Group is a key energy player in Southeast Europe. PPC has a total installed capacity of 11.8GW, consisting of thermal and hydro stations as well as renewable energy installations with a total annual generation amounting to approximately 20TWh. The total Regulated Asset Base of distribution networks in Greece and Romania amounts to € 4.2 bn approximately.

PPC Group is the leading supplier of electricity in Greece and Romania, servicing approximately 8.7 m customers in total providing approximately 40TWh of energy and a wide range of energy products and services. For more than 70 years, PPC has been the leader of the Greek energy industry, contributing significantly to the country’s electrification process.

Due to constant investments in the development and modernization of the electricity distribution network, E-Distributie Muntenia, the current Rețele Electrice Muntenia, recorded in 2022 an average duration of unscheduled interruptions per customer / year of 77.50 minutes, while the national average was 108.25 minutes. This is the most important performance indicator in terms of electricity distribution.

Among the recent investments are 7 million lei in increasing the installed capacity of the Dudești primary substation in Bucharest, for the benefit of 7,700 customers, the amplification of the two 110/20kV transformers allows the operator to streamline both the connection of new customers in that area, which is in a strong expansion, and the development of extensive programs to switch the medium voltage network to 20kV,  which will improve the security of supply of customers – by increasing the capacity of the network, will reduce its own technological consumption, and will give the possibility to connect to a larger number of new consumers. Also, during 2020-2022, following another investment amounting to approximately 8 million lei, the modernization works of the 6kV medium voltage section of the station were completed, which allowed its integration into the remote control.

Also, in Giurgiu County, in the localities of Oinacu, Braniștea, Plopșoru and Daița, are being performed works to modernize the low voltage network by replacing low voltage poles, replacing classical conductors with insulated ones and installing measuring devices at the property limit. Also here, works will be carried out to modernize the 20 kV lines by passing them from aerial to underground for a distance of 6 km. Similar works are being carried out in the localities of Clejani, Ghimpați, and Valea Dragului.

Among this year’s works, we also mention the modernization of the low voltage network in Olteni, modernization of lines in Uzunu, the realization of new low voltage injections to increase the quality of electricity distribution in the localities of Adunatii Copăceni, Varlaam. In Ilfov County, in the Pantelimon – Acumulatorul area, works are being carried out to amplify and extend the 110 kV / 20 kV Solex substation, within an investment of approximately 10 million lei, the objectives of the project being to increase the connection capacity for new consumers.

Also, the modalities of contact remain the same. To contact the company, customers in Bucharest and Ilfov and Giurgiu counties have at their disposal the toll-free number 0800.070.888. The Green Line numbers in the technical call centers are available 24/7 and can be called free of charge from the national territory. Also, as part of the digitization program, details about the electricity supply are also available on the https://www.e-distributie.com/ro/intreruperi-curent.html page.
