    George Agafitei is the new president of RWEA

    The Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA) has appointed George Agafitei as its new president starting from November 23, following the votes from the meeting of the Board of Directors.

    “RWEA represents about 90 percent of everything that means wind energy in Romania. We are a voice that must be heard. I want to thank you for your vote of confidence, and I hope we will have many achievements together,” said George Agafitei, the new president of RWEA.

    He started his career in the private sector, and for the last 11 years he has been active in the public sector.

    In the Government of Romania, he was, starting in 2016, Personal Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy, Advisor to the Minister of National Defense, but also State Advisor for the economic and energy sector within the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, where he coordinated the inter-ministerial committee for energy between December 2021 and July 2023.

    George Agafitei graduated from the Faculty of Communication and Public Relations within SNSPA, then followed a master’s degree from the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Bucharest.
