Catalin Nita, FPPG: “The authorities are starting to reach out to us proactively, not only reactively”

“Trust is a very important element in the energy industry, and our organization has begun to offer more and more trust. Our industry is a very technical one. Against the backdrop of multiple topics on the public agenda, politicians do not always have the necessary attention or training to understand the entire complexity of this industry. Thus, organizations such as FPGG began to explain things in a more accessible language, and trust grew among the authorities,” Catalin Nita, Executive Director, FPPG said during Energy CEO Forum organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.

“Professional associations have gradually started to increase the level of trust among the authorities, which is very important. Only through trust can you have a true social dialogue. The authorities are starting to reach out to us proactively, not only reactively.

Unfortunately, human resources are decreasing. Our industry relies on a skilled, well-paid workforce, but this workforce is declining. The energy sector is shrinking.

The most important thing we have to do from now on is to structure ourselves a little. The industry clearly knows what it has to do.

The energy industry was and is one of the pillars on which this country was built. A study we did last year showed that 10 percent of the state’s revenues came from the oil and gas sector, from the taxes and duties of this sector. Unfortunately, we have the highest taxes on the gas industry, three times higher than the European average.”
