    OTP Bank Romania: 35 percent increase in the number of customers who performed banking transactions through the SmartBank app in 2022

    OTP Bank Romania announces a 35 percent increase compared to the previous year, in the number of customers who made banking transactions through the mobile banking service – SmartBank.

    According to OTP Bank data, in the last year, the number of users of the SmartBank service (mobile banking) increased by 35 percent, and the total value of transaction volumes recorded on digital channels in 2022 increased by 45 percent compared to the volumes traded in the previous year (the increase being of even 81 percent in the case of volumes traded in euros).

    Also, OTP Bank’s digital clients who can choose to do their banking online, preferred to use these digital channels for 96 percent of the transactions made last year, even reaching 98 percent, in the case of clients of legal entities.

    “The last few years have been really intense, in terms of investments made in digitization and improvement of existing technological services. We streamlined old technologies and identified new solutions to bring us closer to our customers. These increases reflect the customers’s satisfaction of OTP Bank Romania for the safety and efficiency offered by our banking platforms. For us, it’s a way of thinking that makes us more agile, more digital and more prepared to support customers’ needs,” said Constantin Mareș, Deputy General Manager of OTP Bank Romania, Digital Division.

    The main operations carried out by customers through SmartBank are those related to the rapid transfer of money through the Money Magnet, the creation of deposits, but also currency exchanges at advantageous rates through the new digital platform launched in 2022. Along with these, of course, there are recurring operations such as utility payments or inter and intrabank transfers, so easy to manage from the mobile banking application.
