ENGIE Romania and Saint-Gobain join forces to develop the largest on-site photovoltaic park in Romania

    Published on

ENGIE Romania and Saint-Gobain Romania announce a partnership for the construction of the largest photovoltaic park in Romania, located on the land of the company’s glass factory. The result of this partnership will be a system of photovoltaic panels, with an installed capacity of 8.6 MWp, for the production of renewable energy that serves the industrial site in Calarasi. The energy produced will be used 100% for self-consumption.

ENGIE Romania will contribute to the decarbonization efforts of Saint-Gobain Romania, by developing this photovoltaic park and by providing green energy. The ground-mounted photovoltaic panels will provide approximately 20% of the electricity needs of the glass factory in Calarasi, being avoided over 2,400 tons of CO2 per year. The amount of green energy produced is estimated at over 14,000 MWh / year.

“The partnership with Saint-Gobain is another step towards consolidating our expertise in providing green energy solutions, customized for the needs of our customers. We are very proud to have been chosen by Saint-Gobain – an iconic industrial player, determined to reduce CO2 emissions – to be part of their journey to a greener future,” said Eric Stab, President and CEO of ENGIE Romania.

“For Saint-Gobain, sustainability is one of our priorities, and this investment is a natural step in achieving environmental goals in Romania, substantially contributing to reducing the carbon footprint, in line with the Grow & Impact strategic plan, which underlines our strong commitment to protect existing resources and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. We hope that this initiative will be an example for the whole industry, which is already working towards environmentally friendly practices,“ said Ovidiu Pascutiu, CEO of Saint-Gobain Romania.
