Alexandru Petrescu, Minister of Communications and Information Society, will be present at the 2019 Ministerial Council of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris on 22 May 2019, a press release shows.

The Romanian Minister attends a series of digital sessions, namely: launching the OECD Recommendation on Artificial Intelligence; the role of governments and the importance of international cooperation in harnessing the potential of digital transition and data governance.

“Digitization is an opportunity for innovation in the economy and society, improving services and increasing business dynamism, but only through massive investment in infrastructure, research and digital education. In order to fully harness the potential of the digital economy, to enhance welfare and promote the progress of society, it is necessary to implement coherent long-term policies devoted to reducing digital divide between the Member States of the European Union and to significantly improving digital inclusion and skills,” said Minister Alexandru Petrescu.
