    Romania reached record number of entrepreneurs in 2019

    The number of company associates or shareholders in Romania reached a historical high at the beginning of 2019, with a total of 1,380,391 entrepreneurs across the country, according to data from the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC).

    In February 2019, Romania had 863,214 male entrepreneurs and 517,777 female entrepreneurs, Business Review reads. By county, the most entrepreneurs were registered in Bucharest (317,039), Cluj (76,253), Timis (64,074), Ilfov (60,531), and Constanta (55,959).

    The fewest business leaders were recorded in counties like Mehedinti (8,865), Covasna (9,136), Ialomita (9,670), Tulcea (10,629), and Botosani (10,726).

    The number of professionals (including sole traders and commercial firms) that were dissolved, expunged or suspended dropped in the first two months of 2019 by almost 25 percent compared to the same period of last year.
