Greenvolt Power has secured 284 million euros in project financing for its 253.1 MW wind project in Gurbănești, east of Bucharest, Romania. The project, one of the largest of its kind in the country, is expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2027.
Comprising 42 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.1 MW, the project will add significant new renewable generation capacity and contribute to the decarbonisation of Romania’s power system.
“Romania is an important market for Greenvolt, where we see strong long-term potential, and our investment in the country reflects that. Wind has been a particular focus, but our presence extends across technologies and business segments. Alongside our utility-scale activities, we are also consolidating our presence in on-site renewable energy solutions for corporate and industrial clients,” said João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group.
“Our ability to advance projects at this scale is supported by strong relationships with financial partners who understand our business and the quality assets we are developing. This financing is another example of that collaboration, reflecting our ability to find the right financing solutions for our projects,” said Adrian Góralski, Director of M&A and Project Finance at Greenvolt Power.
The Gurbănești wind farm is part of the broader Wind Rose platform (506 MW), one of the country’s most significant private renewable energy initiatives currently in progress, which also includes the 253.1 MW Ialomița wind project.
Greenvolt Group has a significant utility-scale pipeline in Romania, comprising 707 MW of wind, 58 MW of solar and 209 MW of battery energy storage projects. The Group is also active in the distributed generation segment through Greenvolt Next, providing on-site renewable energy solutions for corporate and industrial clients.
