Romanian energy professional and power systems engineer Bogdan Leu has been elected International NGN Chair of CIGRE for the 2026–2028 term, taking on the leadership of the international CIGRE Next Generation Network (NGN). Bogdan Leu was elected through a vote of the international CIGRE NGN community, represented by more than 40 National Committees from around the world.
CIGRE Next Generation Network (NGN) is one of the largest communities of young energy professionals worldwide and represents the CIGRE community dedicated to young professionals working in the field of power systems. The network provides opportunities for professional development, knowledge exchange, participation in CIGRE’s technical activities, and collaboration with established experts from around the world.
In the new leadership structure, Bogdan Leu will work alongside Logan Rolles from the United States, elected Vice-Chair for the 2026–2028 term. The new leadership team aims to further develop the international network and strengthen the involvement of young professionals from around the world in CIGRE activities.

NGN plays a key role in connecting the next generation of professionals with the experience and expertise of the CIGRE community. Over the next two years, I want us to create new opportunities for collaboration, learning and engagement for young energy professionals around the world. I also hope that this achievement will contribute to strengthening Romania’s visibility and role within the international energy community,” said Bogdan Leu, International NGN Chair of CIGRE.
Bogdan Leu has nine years of experience in the energy sector and works at Transelectrica, Romania’s Transmission System Operator, where he serves as Research & Innovation Project Manager, coordinating research and innovation projects and developing collaborations with international industry and research partners.
Bogdan Leu holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in power systems, with studies and research carried out at POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest and Grenoble INP – Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble.
