Transelectrica reports net profit of 356 million RON, up 39 percent in H1

Transelectrica reported a net profit of RON 356 million in the first six months of 2026, up 39 percent compared with the same period in 2025, according to a report submitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

The company’s profitable-regulated activities segment posted a positive result of RON 342 million in H1 2026, up RON 126 million from the RON 216 million recorded in the same period last year. The increase was driven by a RON 214 million rise in operating revenues, while operating expenses, including depreciation, increased by RON 88 million.

Operating revenues rose to RON 1.365 billion at June 30, 2026, from RON 1.151 billion a year earlier. The increase was mainly driven by higher transport revenues and ancillary revenues, including a RON 112 million increase in interconnection capacity allocation revenues and RON 16 million in emergency assistance revenues. This was partly offset by a RON 7.4 million decline in revenues from CPT transactions on the balancing market.

Transport revenues and other revenues from the energy market increased by RON 203 million, from RON 1.119 billion in H1 2025 to RON 1.322 billion in H1 2026. The company said the increase was mainly influenced by the higher transmission tariff approved by the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) from January 1, 2026, which led to an RON 77 million, or 8 percent, increase in regulated tariff revenues compared with the same period last year.

Between January and June 2026, revenues from interconnection capacity allocation increased by RON 74 million, reaching RON 263 million, compared with RON 151 million in the same period of 2025. The increase was influenced by the supply-and-demand-based price formation model. Implicit allocations, which simultaneously involve capacity and energy, are strongly affected by fluctuations in electricity prices on European power exchanges.

Operating expenses, including depreciation, rose by 9 percent, to RON 1.022 billion in H1 2026 from RON 934 million in H1 2025. The increase was mainly driven by higher system operation costs.

Among operating expenses, the largest impact came from electricity transmission losses (CPT) costs. These amounted to RON 356 million in January-June 2026, up 24 percent, or RON 68 million, from RON 288 million in the same period last year.
