ENEVO Group and Kraftfeld sign EPC contract for 220 MWh battery energy storage project in Drăgănești-Olt

    Published on

ENEVO Group and Kraftfeld have signed an EPC contract for the development of a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 220 MWh and an output of 110 MW in Drăgănești-Olt, Olt County, Romania. The project also includes connections to the high-voltage transmission network.

The agreement was signed during Intersolar Europe 2026. Kraftfeld is the project owner, while ENEVO Group will serve as the EPC contractor, responsible for the turnkey design, procurement, and construction of both the BESS facility and the associated high-voltage substation.

The storage system will have a nominal discharge capacity of 110 MW and an energy storage capacity of 220 MWh, enabling it to store and dispatch electricity in response to market signals and the operational needs of Romania’s national power system. Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with commissioning and commercial operations expected in early 2027.

The Drăgănești-Olt project further strengthens ENEVO Group’s position as a leading EPC partner for large-scale battery energy storage systems in Romania. It expands the company’s storage portfolio, which now exceeds 1 GWh and includes projects currently under construction as well as operational assets.

“Projects of this scale are only possible through strong partnerships, trust, and a shared vision for a more sustainable and energy-secure future,” said Ben Salm-Reifferscheidt, Managing Director of Kraftfeld.

“Energy storage is no longer optional; it is a fundamental component of building a resilient and decarbonized energy system. Through this project, we continue to expand our BESS portfolio and demonstrate our ability to deliver complex, large-scale energy storage infrastructure projects on a turnkey basis. We are proud to support Kraftfeld in implementing this project and to contribute to a more stable and flexible electricity grid in Romania,” said Eduard Meiloiu, VP Renewables at ENEVO Group.
