The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest organized on Monday, May 18, 2026, the workshop “The Defense Industry Facing Dual-Use Technologies and NATO Requirements”, an event dedicated to the dialogue between the research environment, industry and international partners on the role of dual-use technologies in the context of NATO requirements.

The event was opened by Adrian Victor Vevera, General Manager of ICI Bucharest, Horia Răzvan Botiș, Vice-Chairman of NIAG, H.E. Özgür Kıvanç Altan, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Romania, and Marian Barbu, Rector of the “Lower Danube” University of Galati.
During the workshop, participants discussed the challenges and opportunities that dual-use technologies bring to the defense industry, with a focus on innovation, security, interoperability and international collaboration.
“Dual-use technologies are an essential element for strengthening security and defense capabilities. For ICI Bucharest, involvement in such dialogues is natural, given our role in the area of research, digitalization, cybersecurity and advanced infrastructures. It is important that the solutions developed in the technological environment respond to both civil and strategic needs, in a solid and responsible cooperation framework”, said Adrian Victor Vevera, General Manager of ICI Bucharest.
The workshop program included presentations by Marius Hărătău – Factory 4.0, Andrew Hutanu and Tudor Bîrlea – Freya Sense, Dilek Batmaz – Gardiyan System Security Technologies, Adrian Diaconu – Advanced Robotics Luxembourg, as well as a presentation of the solutions developed by Dobot, dedicated to intelligent robotics and automation.

The workshop provided an applied framework for the exchange of ideas on adapting the defense industry to new technological realities and NATO standards, highlighting the importance of cooperation between institutions, companies and international organizations.
