Bozankaya expands its presence in Romania: 34 trams delivered in Iasi and 33 trolleybuses in Timisoara

Bozankaya, a global player in the transition toward green urban transport, continues to advance major zero-emission mobility projects in Romania, contributing to sustainable public transport systems in Iași and Timișoara.

The company has recently completed the delivery of 18 modern trams to Iași, bringing the total number supplied to the city in recent years to 34 units. At the same time, Bozankaya is finalizing the delivery of 33 trolleybuses to Timișoara, with all vehicles expected to enter service in the first half of May.

The partnership between Bozankaya and Iași City Hall, which began in 2019, has reached a new milestone with the completion of the latest contract. Following the deployment of 16 five-module trams, an additional 18 three-module vehicles have now been fully delivered.

As a result, Iași now operates one of the most modern tram fleets in Romania, marking a significant step forward in upgrading the city’s public transport infrastructure and improving passenger comfort.

In Timișoara, Bozankaya continues to deliver vehicles under its contract with the local authorities. The fleet includes 33 state-of-the-art trolleybuses designed specifically for the city’s needs.

Of these, 8 vehicles are 12 meters long and 25 are 18 meters long. Featuring high passenger capacity, low-floor accessibility, and 100% zero-emission technology, the trolleybuses support Timișoara’s sustainability goals while offering quieter and more energy-efficient operation.

In addition, Bozankaya has previously delivered 40 five-module trams in the city and plans to supply 10 more three-module units in the near future.

“We are proud to be reaching the final stage of our projects in Romania. While tram deliveries in Iași have been successfully completed, the delivery of all 33 trolleybuses for Timișoara will also be finalized in May,” said Aytunç Günay, President of Bozankaya.

He emphasized that Romania represents both a strategic market and a key showcase for the company’s vision of sustainable public transport: “Through tailored engineering solutions developed for each city, we actively contribute to reducing carbon emissions and modernizing urban mobility across Europe.”
