Equipment for the Teiuș Battery Energy Storage System has arrived on site. Installation is underway

    Published on

Eurowind Energy Romania, through its affiliated company Teiuș Solar S.R.L., announces that the main equipment for the Teiuș battery energy storage system (BESS) has arrived on site, and the project is entering the installation and integration phase. The project’s total investment value has been updated to 21 million euros, with financial support provided through Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).

BESS Teiuș will have a minimum storage capacity of 116.96 MWh (over 120 MWh in the delivery configuration) and is designed to bring flexibility to the power system by storing electricity and delivering it when the grid needs it.

Adrian Dobre, Country Manager, Eurowind Energy Romania, stated:
The arrival of the equipment marks a practical and decisive milestone: we are moving into the installation and integration phase. At Teiuș, we are building an investment that delivers system value—flexibility and stability for the grid—at a time when integrating renewable energy increasingly depends on modern storage capacity.

The system is being implemented under a full EPC contract signed with Visual Fan S.A. (Renewable EPC by Allview), valued at more than EUR 16.6 million, covering the entire delivery chain—from design and procurement to construction, installation, integration (including into SCADA/DMS/EMS systems), testing, and permitting for commercial operation.

The BESS containers integrate lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, a technology widely used in utility-scale storage projects for its safety profile and thermal stability. The system includes a Battery Management System (BMS) for real-time monitoring of critical parameters (such as cell voltage and temperature), as well as advanced safety measures—sensor-based detection (smoke/temperature/gases), protection systems and thermal management, including liquid cooling, for more precise temperature control and operational performance.

    Strengthening presence in Romania

Active on the local market since 2011, Eurowind Energy Romania develops and operates renewable energy projects with a dedicated local team. The company’s portfolio includes four operational solar parks—Hălchiu, Măgurele, Pufești, and Teiuș—and a pipeline of approximately 7 GW at various stages of development. By the end of Q2 2026, the company will reach an operational capacity of 124 MW in Romania.
