The first phase of the battery energy storage project at Gura Ialomiței, Ialomița County, has been completed, reaching a capacity of 150 MW / 300 MWh and becoming one of Romania’s largest energy storage facility by installed capacity. A second development phase is set to follow immediately.
The completion announcement was made by Electrogrup, part of the Romanian infrastructure group E-INFRA, which executed the project.
“The project was delivered in just seven months from the start of on-site works, despite a challenging winter and an extremely ambitious schedule.
With this project, Electrogrup becomes the first company in Romania to reach 1 GWh of installed battery storage capacity delivered and commissioned for various investors. It is our sixth energy storage project, and each one makes us faster and better.
We thank our partner Aukera Energy for its trust and the team at Transelectrica for their collaboration.
For us, execution speed and quality are not objectives; they are an internal discipline. And what comes next is even more: we are moving immediately into Phase 2,” according to a release from Electrogrup.
The project was developed in partnership with Aukera Energy and connected in cooperation with Transelectrica. Once the second phase is completed, the Gura Ialomiței battery energy storage system is expected to further strengthen Romania’s grid flexibility and support the integration of renewable energy sources.
