The Energy Employers’ Federation and the Romanian Diplomatic Institute launch the second edition of the “Energy Diplomacy” program

    Published on

The Energy Employers’ Federation (FPE), in partnership with the Romanian Diplomatic Institute (IDR), announces the launch of the second edition of the professional training program “Energy Diplomacy,” an initiative that strengthens a strategic direction essential for Romania: a deep understanding of the relationship between energy, geopolitics, and foreign policy.

The program provides participants with applied analytical tools to understand the interdependencies between energy, the global economy, and international relations, as well as an in-depth understanding of the diplomatic mechanisms through which states negotiate, cooperate, and manage risks.

The second edition is aimed at staff from central and local public administration, representatives of the private sector, experts in the energy field, and anyone interested in continuing education at the intersection of energy and foreign policy.

Daniel Apostol, Director General of the Energy Employers’ Federation, stated:
“Energy is the new language of global diplomacy. The success of the first edition confirmed a clear reality: the energy sector can no longer be viewed solely through numbers, but through the lens of strategic dialogue. In the current geopolitical context, where energy has become an essential tool of influence, training specialists in energy diplomacy is a national priority. We are pleased to continue our partnership with IDR to provide future leaders with the tools needed to navigate this complex economic landscape and to ensure Romania’s resilience in the international market. Together with IDR, we are proud to have created a community of professionals capable of anticipating economic and geopolitical changes. In a world of uncertainty, specialized education in energy diplomacy remains the safest investment for the stability and future of Romania’s energy sector.”

The first edition confirmed both the genuine interest in such a program and, more importantly, the acute need for applied expertise in a field where decisions are no longer merely technical or economic, but profoundly strategic. Today, energy is an instrument of influence, a factor of stability or vulnerability, and a central pillar of national security.

In a context marked by the energy transition, geopolitical realignments, and competition for resources, energy diplomacy is becoming a strategic competence for public administration, the business environment, and all those involved in the decision-making architecture.
