Transelectrica is facing tremendous pressure from investors due to upcoming legislative changes regarding the issuance of grid connection permits (ATRs), starting January 1, said Virgiliu Ivan, Director of the National Energy Dispatcher at Transelectrica.
“There are many challenges for Transelectrica. Right now, there is tremendous pressure from investors, because the legislation will change as of January 1 regarding ATRs (grid connection permits). Our colleagues in charge of connections are under huge pressure, since most investors want to finalize their technical documentation, secure their ATRs, and sign contracts before the legislative changes take effect. Many of our colleagues within Transelectrica are currently dedicated to this activity,” Ivan explained at a conference organized by InvestEnergy.
Ivan also pointed out that the energy sector must make efforts to protect consumers, while the industry must ensure that energy remains affordable.
“How do we succeed in protecting consumers, how do we manage to keep prices and tariffs at a sustainable level for them? Since we are now discussing the development of production, let us also focus on consumers. We should try to attract consumers directly, not indirectly through prices. Perhaps, if we succeed, electricity prices may decrease in the coming years, and we will be able to attract more customers,” Ivan added.
