STRABAG implements 140 MW wind farm for PPC Romania

    Published on

STRABAG Romania has reached a major milestone in the Deleni Wind Farm Project, part of the Prowind North Cluster in Vaslui County. The project was commissioned to STRABAG as a general contractor by PPC Renewables Romania. It has now entered a key phase: the installation of the 23 GE Vernova wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.1 MW.

With a total installed capacity of 140 MW, the Deleni Wind Farm is the largest renewable energy plant in the Moldova region and one of the most significant projects of its kind in Romania. When operational at the end of 2025, the facility will generate approximately 370 GWh of green energy annually, enough to power 62,000 households and reduce CO₂ emissions by an estimated 215,000 tonnes per year.

”We are proud to see this landmark project progressing according to plan and entering the most visible stage of construction,” said Herbert Schuster, Commercial Subdivision Manager at STRABAG Romania. “The installation of the 23 turbines marks a turning point in the project and brings Romania one step closer to its renewable energy targets.”

Since the start of construction in March, STRABAG Romania has carried out extensive civil, infrastructure, and electrical works that laid the foundation for the current turbine installation phase. The team built all 23 wind turbine foundations, using over 2,300 tons of reinforcement steel and 28,000 m³ of concrete. In parallel, more than 36 kilometers of technology roads, nearly 386,500 m² of crushed stone platforms and access roads were completed to ensure full site accessibility.
