Biofarm, one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in Romania, announced the financial results for the first half of 2025. Turnover increased by 15 percent compared to the first half of 2024, EBITDA rose by 14 percent to RON 61.7 million, and net profit reached RON 48.8 million, up approximately 16 percent.
“In an economic context marked by exchange rate volatility, rising raw material costs, and legislative changes such as the VAT rate adjustment, we remain committed to research and development, a key pillar of our sustainable growth strategy. We continue to invest in portfolio innovation and in identifying therapeutic solutions adapted to the new market realities and consumer needs,” said Cătălin Vicol, CEO of Biofarm.
In the first six months of 2025, Biofarm consolidated its second place in the Consumer Healthcare (CHC) segment by number of units sold. Sales growth was supported by significant increases in brands dedicated to digestive health, pain management, symptomatic treatment of cold and flu, as well as products addressing stress and anxiety.
The company is the market leader by volume in the reference categories for six of its brands: Bixtonim, Colebil, Triferment, Extravalerianic, Carmol, and Carbocit.
Biofarm operates two pharmaceutical factories in Bucharest and a product testing and development facility. Its portfolio of over 100 products covers the most important therapeutic areas in the Consumer Healthcare division (digestive & metabolic, respiratory & ORL, cardiovascular & circulatory, nervous system).
