    Nuclearelectrica welcomes the Speaker of the Korean National Assembly to Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant

    Nuclearelectrica hosted at Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant His Excellency Woo Won-shik, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, together with His Excellency Rim Kap-soo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Romania, and high-level representatives of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP).

    The visit marks a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between Romania and the Republic of Korea, reflecting shared values, technological excellence, and a joint vision for a sustainable energy future.

    During the event, Cosmin Ghiță, CEO of Nuclearelectrica, emphasized the importance of the collaboration with KHNP in two major projects: the Refurbishment of Cernavodă Unit 1 and the development of Romania’s first Tritium Removal Facility.

    “We are happy to consolidate our partnership with KHNP on the refurbishment of Unit 1. This is a vital project for Romania’s energy security and a benchmark for international cooperation in the nuclear sector,” stated Cosmin Ghiță. “Together with KHNP, we are delivering a high-impact project that will secure an additional 30 years of clean energy for Romanian households and industry.”

    The Tritium Removal Facility, another strategic project under development with KHNP, will contribute to enhanced environmental performance and strengthen Romania’s regional leadership in advanced nuclear technologies.

    This high-level visit underlines the deepening bilateral relationship and the mutual commitment of both nations to drive progress in clean energy, innovation, and regional energy security.
