SN Nuclearelectrica SA and Valahia University of Targoviste have today concluded a partnership through which they aim to exploit cooperation opportunities in various areas of common interest, with the objective of offering an integrated educational concept, academic-industry environment, for the training of a generation of top specialists.
Thus, the partnership signed today between Nuclearelectrica and Valahia University will consider cooperation for: ensuring the practice base for students; granting scholarships; promoting internship programs; organizing technical visits for professors and students to CNE Cernavoda; equipping and equipping the laboratories of the faculties and the Multidisciplinary Scientific and Technological Research Institute within Valahia University; supporting scientific research activities, technological development and innovation in areas such as small modular reactors, energy efficiency and digitalization; joint collaboration projects; supporting scientific activities and promoting academic excellence.
“Identifying and training human resources has been and remains a priority for us. Developing the partnership with Valahia University, beyond the common interest in academic and scientific development, is an approach to training nuclear engineers who will become the new generation of nuclear engineers. The opportunity is twofold, both in CANDU technology and in advanced technology, SMR. One of the objectives is to correlate the academic environment with the nuclear industry, to develop, to provide applied training and then to mentor on site. I thank Valahia University for its professionalism and enthusiasm to train generations of specialists in the nuclear industry together, to develop a strategic industry for Romania in terms of education!” – Cosmin Ghiță, General Manager
In the context of achieving Romania’s energy security objectives, Nuclearelectrica is refurbishing Unit 1 of the Cernavoda NPP, developing new nuclear capacities, Units 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda NPP and the Small Modular Reactors Project and innovating through the Detritium Facility Project and the Project Medical Isotopes. In the early 2030s, nuclear energy will represent 66% of Romania’s clean energy, 20,000 jobs at the industry level and local and national socio-economic development.
“We say that we have 3 strategic projects to expand nuclear capacity and one to train the generation to operate them. Therefore, in parallel with the development of the projects, Nuclearelectrica has proposed through various measures, from identification in educational institutions to mentoring by current experts, to train a new generation of specialists to maintain and increase Romania’s current performance in nuclear energy. We can do this efficiently and on time only in partnership with the academic environment” – Cosmin Ghiță, General Director of Nuclearelectrica
