    Published on

Rețele Electrice România, part of PPC group in Romania, launched on the electronic public procurement platform SEAP a public tender with a value estimated over 32 million lei (excluding VAT), for the purchase of high-voltage electrical wiring, as well as accessories, so that they can carry out their network modernization and maintenance projects.

With this auction we aim to strengthen the capacity of our network to address the risks posed by climate change and increase the reliability of power supply. Investing in network infrastructure is a strategic direction for us and it reflects our commitment to the communities we serve. Our priority is to provide them with constant and safe access to electricity and secure to electricity, an essential element for economic development and quality of life” said Mihai Pește, General Director of Rețele Electrice România.

Thus, Rețele Electrice România purchase electric cable with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation of 110 kV, as well as accessories, estimated maximum value of over 32 million lei. Thus, following the auction, the following will be purchased – high voltage underground cable, sleeves for underground high voltage cables, high voltage cable terminals for GIS, transposition and disconnection box of 110kV cable screens and others. The purchase of these products is made in order to modernize the electrical distribution network.

The minimum amount of high voltage cable purchased is 37.000 ml, similar length to about 370 football fields put together (a standard plot of land ~100 m long). The maximum amount of cable purchased 60.100 ml is a similar length distance between Bucharest and Ploiesti.

This initiative is part of a comprehensive investment plan in energy infrastructure, through which the company aims to reduce technological losses, improving service quality and increasing electricity distribution capacity, especially in the Bucharest-Ilfov metropolitan area in the context of a contribution to increasingly significant renewable energy sources in the grid.

This year, Rețele Electrice România plans to invest more than 730 million lei. On top of that, there will be projects with funding attracted from the POIM and the Fund for Modernization in the three areas, Banat, Dobrogea and Muntenia, which will be completed in the period 2026-2029 worth 1.4 billion lei, of which approx. 340 million lei which will be fully founded from own founds. By the end of the 2025, the total number of smart meters installed by the company Rețele Electrice România will reach approximately 2 million, the highest volume reached by any electricity distribution operator from Romania.
