Photon Energy and Hyperion Renewables have announced that they have signed an EPC contract for a 34 MW PV solar project in Săliște, Romania. The project was developed by Hyperion, a leading Portuguese renewable energy developer that entered the Romanian market in 2021 and currently has a greenfield solar project pipeline of over 500 MW.

Under the terms of the contract, Photon Energy will be responsible for design, technology procurement, and the construction of the facility. Both companies are collaborating to add an additional 4 MW of installed capacity, which will increase the total size of the project to 38 MW.

“We are proud to partner with Hyperion Renewables on this significant 34 MW solar project in Săliște, Romania. This project exemplifies our ability to deliver turnkey, large-scale solar solutions that support the transition to clean energy. Our expertise in EPC and O&M, combined with Hyperion’s strategic investment, ensures a strong foundation for the successful construction and operation of this facility. We are committed to creating value for our partners, supporting regional economic growth, and advancing Romania’s renewable energy targets,” said Georg Hotar, CEO of Photon Energy Group.

Construction is scheduled to commence in Q3 2025, with commercial operation expected by Q3 2026. In addition to EPC services, Photon Energy will provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for the first three years, ensuring optimal performance and the longevity of the power plant.

“Romania is a strategic market for Hyperion, and the Săliște Project represents a significant milestone as the first project in our Romanian portfolio to commence construction, demonstrating our ability to turn pipeline into progress. We are excited to see it moving into implementation and to continue advancing the rest of our development pipeline to contribute to Romania’s energy transition,” commented Aytea Amandi, CEO of Hyperion Renewables.

The project is expected to create approximately 35 to 50 local jobs throughout its lifecycle, contributing to regional economic development.
