Banca Comercială Română (BCR) announces its accession to the national RoPay system, the newest and most innovative payment and collection method available in Romania. The service is directly integrated into the George app.

The new system is based on account-to-account (P2P) transfers, without the use of a bank card. RoPay allows instant transfers in lei by scanning a QR code, without the need to manually enter the payer or beneficiary data.

“By integrating RoPay into George, we continue to develop our digital ecosystem and offer customers modern financial solutions that simplify everyday life. It is a natural step towards the future of instant payments, where technology eliminates classic barriers and brings more efficiency to daily transactions. The project was implemented in record time, reconfirming our ability to quickly and efficiently deliver innovative solutions, with a direct impact on the way people interact with banking services,” said Cristian Mustață, Deputy Executive Director, BCR Retail Distribution.

Developed by TRANSFOND and authorized by the National Bank of Romania, the RoPay system operates based on a national QR code standard and is available to both individuals and companies.
