According to Tazz’s 2024 retrospective, Romanians’ favorite dish was the burger, ordered an average of 365 times per hour throughout the year. Moreover, the number of burger orders increased by 28 percent compared to 2023. In 2024, the average value of a burger order was 36.5 lei, with most orders placed on Fridays around 7:00 PM. In Bucharest, the average burger price was 42.6 lei, while in Timișoara, it was 41 lei, and in Cluj-Napoca, 36.1 lei.

Data from the Tazz app reveals that November saw the highest burger demand, with product sales exceeding the monthly average by 10 percent.

On a national level, Bucharest dominates the ranking of cities with the most burger orders, outpacing the second-place city, Cluj-Napoca, by over 50 percent. The top five cities include Timișoara, Iași, and Brașov.

The largest group order in 2024, in terms of quantity, was recorded in Bucharest and consisted of 46 burgers.

“According to Tadaaazz statistics, in 2024, Romanians’ cravings were most frequently directed towards burgers. A significant trend we observed in this segment was the increasing variety of products ordered. This diversification in burger types available on restaurant menus reflects a quick adaptation to consumer trends for this dish. To meet the growing demand throughout the past year, we increased the number of partners offering burgers on their menus, including a selection tailored to current consumption trends, such as smashed burgers and cheeseburgers,” said Răzvan Acsente, Chief Marketing Officer at Tazz.

When it comes to the most ordered types of burgers, cheeseburgers top the list.

The primary trend in 2024’s burger segment leaned towards variety. Romanians ordered a wider range of products, opting more often for recipes beyond the classic options. As a result, smashed burgers became increasingly popular. Additionally, there was growing interest in special recipes, such as those featuring lamb or halloumi cheese, as well as unconventional choices like calamari, salmon, or cauliflower burgers. Gourmet options, such as burgers with duck breast or truffles, also gained traction.

The Tadaaazz rankings, which include these statistics, represent an annual analysis based on data collected from the Tazz app. They cover the most ordered products and categories, the most popular restaurants, and the evolution of consumer trends both nationally and in major cities. According to the 2024 edition, burgers were the star product in Romania, with over 3 million orders.
