Engie Romania aims to double its green energy production capacity this year, by building two PV parks in Prahova and Galaţi, according to Nicholas Richard, CEO of the company.

“We are already a producer of green energy, we want to double our capacity and we have already taken concrete steps: we are building two parks in Prahova and in Galati (…) We want to increase the production capacity of green energy, to sell even more electricity. We are currently an important actor, but not in the top 5. A target for us is to grow in the area of electricity and we want to do this with green energy”, Nicolas Richard said during ZF Power Summit, e-nergia.ro reads.

He pointed out that, since 2005, the company has invested heavily in the gas network to ensure that it has a reliable, adaptable network.

“Last year we connected approximately 70,000 customers, expanded the network by 642 km and modernized more than 140 km. We continue to invest in the grid because we believe it is a crucial element of how we approach the energy transition. We strongly believe that gas, especially in Romania, has an extremely important role – and this means that we must have a network that is extremely well structured and reliable”, said Richard.

Engie owns, in Romania, two wind farms with a capacity of almost 100 MW, in Brăila and Galați counties, and four photovoltaic parks, with a total installed capacity of almost 24 MW, in the counties of Arad, Harghita, Buzău and Teleorman.
