    Dan Crișan takes over the position of COO of PENNY | REWE Romania

    PENNY Romania, one of the most dynamic retailers on the market, announces today significant changes in the management team, in order to consolidate and align with the strategic objectives for the next period. Starting from January 2024, Dan Crisan, who held the position of National Sales Director of PENNY Romania for the last 10 years, will become the new COO of PENNY | REWE Romania.

    Dan Crisan takes over the position of COO of PENNY Romania, replacing Marek Dolezal, who becomes CEO of BILLA Slovakia. With over 20 years of experience in the company, Dan Crisan has been the National Sales Director at PENNY in recent years, successfully leading a team of over 3,000 people nationwide.

    “Both Marek Dolezal and Dan Crisan have done their duty excellently in their respective positions, so we decided to leverage their experience at PENNY and offer them new challenges. Marek Dolezal will leave PENNY to join BILLA in Slovakia as CEO. I want to thank him especially for the way he developed the PENNY brand in Romania in the last three years. I wish both Marek Dolezal and Dan Crisan the best of luck in their new positions and I am convinced that they will exceed our expectations,” said Michael Jaeger, member of the REWE International Board.

    Dan Crisan will coordinate the Sales, Logistics, Digital Commerce and Sustainability departments, bringing his extensive expertise to a strategic role for the company’s continued development in the Romanian market.

    Daniel Gross, CEO of PENNY Romania, will further coordinate nine departments: Expansion, Construction, Procurement, Strategic Marketing, Quality, Supply Chain, Internal Audit and Security, Strategy and Project Management, Corporate Communication. Raffaele Balestra, CFO PENNY Romania, will retain his current responsibilities, overseeing the Controlling, Accounting, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs, IT and MPDA departments.

I have been here since 2021, and during my stay I focused on improving the customer experience and had the pleasure of contributing to essential projects, such as TripluRO, which I am very proud. Thank you to all my colleagues for their involvement. Taking over the management of BILLA in Slovakia is an honor and a challenge for me. Our priority will continue to be customer satisfaction, to whom we want to offer a wide range of products and novelties from local manufacturers, but also specialties from different regions,” said Marek Dolezal.

    PENNY is part of of the German REWE group and one of the most active retailers in Romania, with the first store opened on the local market in 2005. The entire network is served by four logistics centers located in the towns of Ștefăneştii de Jos, Turda, Bacău and Filiași . Currently, the PENNY network in Romania consists of 352 stores nationwide and a dedicated team of over 6,500 employees.
