STADA Romania, the local subsidiary of the STADA Arzneimittel AG group, announces an investment of 48.3 million Euro in a new production facility that will be built in Arieș Industrial Park in Turda, Cluj County. The greenfield project is partially supported by the Romanian Government, through a state aid contribution. The new production and packaging unit will initially include 9 state-of-the-art technology lines for solid dose products (capsules and tablets), with a capacity of 100 million packages per year. The total area of the unit is aprox 30,000 sqm and allows a rapid expansion of production lines to a number of 12.

The entire surface of the land is 100,000 square meters and also allows a further development of production facilities, through the construction of new buildings, depending on market demand and related to the needs of continuous development of the company.

The finished products from the Turda unit – both prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals – are intended to serve mainly the European markets in which STADA Group operates.

“The investment in the Turda Factory and the partnership with the Romanian Government show once again that STADA is not only a reliable partner for local authorities and health authorities, but also a company involved in the development of the markets in which it operates. We chose Turda because it is a town located in the heart of a region that is strategically important for the STADA Group. It is close to our warehouse in Timisoara, also completed this year, close to the STADA production units in Serbia, as well as to our testing laboratory that serves the Stada group globally. The geographical location of the factory also provides fast transport links to all European markets,” said Mihai Fugarevici, General Manager of STADA Romania.

The deadline for the completion of the project is October 2024. Full operating status of the facility involves a team of 375 employees with rich experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
