Corina Popescu, Electrica: “We did not change our investment plan for this year, we keep our commitments on the distribution segment”

“We are in the middle of a marathon in which we must prove resilience and succeed in facing a long-term challenge. Things can only be done with resilience plans. We managed to implement drastic programs, implementing work from home was not very difficult,” Corina Popescu, CEO Electrica said during the Energy CEO Forum 2020, organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.

“The financial impact depends on the period during which this crisis will spread. The supply side was a challenge, we were not so advanced with digitization, but we managed to have very good results. The organization can react very well even under stress. The energy sector needs to see how we can make things happen and projects should not stay just on paper,” she explained.

“We did not change our investment plan for this year, we keep our commitments on the distribution segment. Instead, we restructured this plan, there were categories of investments that we had to postpone out of the desire to protect everyone. We had to rethink investment plans on other principles. The supply of equipment was a challenge. There were periods when we could not buy meters, and this impacted us in the implementation plans of smart metering projects. I hope that things return to normal soon and that we can fulfill the plans we have assumed by the end of the year.”
