Romanian Government could liberalize the electricity market earlier, starting July 1

    Published on

The Romanian Government is considering the possibility of an early liberalization of the electricity market, from July 1, so that consumers will have lower bills.
“We would like to liberalize the electricity market from July 1, and to have lower prices for final consumers. We have this possibility in mind, because ANRE can no longer set administered prices for producers,” said Niculae Havrileț, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, at the webinar organized by EM 360 and Sustainable Romania.
The initial term for the re-liberalization of the electricity market was January 1, 2021.
