    Published on

OMV Petrom supports the intervention of the Romanian Red Cross in the COVID-19 pandemic with a donation of one million Euro. The funds will be used for the purchase of COVID-19 fast diagnostic testing equipment.

“In difficult times, such as the one we are going through now, solidarity and responsibility are crucial. When social distance becomes a preventive measure, we must remain together by other means. And solidarity is one of them,” said Christina Verchere, chief executive officer and president of OMV Petrom’s Board of Directors.

“OMV Petrom’s donation represents a substantial contribution to the national health system, which will make it possible to increase the access of people possibly infected with coronavirus to a rapid test. We thank the management of OMV Petrom for involvement and for the proof of social responsibility in these difficult times for our country”, said Ioan Silviu Lefter, general manager of the Romanian Red Cross.

The mandate of the Romanian Red Cross, in the CODIV19 pandemic, is to assist persons without belongings, in self-isolation or isolation, with basic foodstuffs and hygiene packages, according to the norms and standards of the organization in emergency situations. A package with basic foodstuffs weighs 12 kg, has the value of 90 RON and provides the necessary food for a family consisting of 3 people, for a period of 2 weeks. The package of hygiene products has the value of 60 lei and contains both personal hygiene products and products for the hygiene of houses.
