    Published on

The Lower Danube River Administration Galati (AFDJ) and Damen Mangalia Shipyard signed the contract for the modernization and refurbishment of the Perseus multifunctional maritime tug boat with ice class.

The contract worth more than 49 million RON was won by Damen Mangalia Shipyard. The Perseus Sea Tug, 6,600 horsepower, will return to water after 24 months of modernization and refurbishment.

The upgrading process will focus on replacing main engines with some of new generation, a new command structure and radio navigation equipment. The refurbishment will reduce the operating costs of the ship and reduce the amount of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere. Upgrading will allow the ship to maintain its operational qualities for the next 20 years.
