For the ninth consecutive year, Orange is the fastest network in Romania (p)

    Published on

Orange is once again the fastest mobile and fiber network in Romania, according to the latest ANCOM report. Following Netograf’s measurements, the operator again achieved the highest average speeds for both mobile data (97 Mbps download and 28 Mbps upload) and fixed internet services (593 Mbps download and 554 Mbps upload), for the ninth consecutive year.

For residential customers, Orange offers fixed internet with speeds of up to 2.1 Gbps, and for the business environment, speeds reach up to 10 Gbps. In the case of mobile services, Orange offers the capabilities of 5G/5G+ technology, with speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps. 5G/5G+ coverage is currently available in 138 cities and surroundings.

Orange Romania’s leadership is also confirmed by other certifications and independent tests: at the end of 2025, the independent external auditor LCC International renewed the certification of the best mobile network, and the latest SpeedGeo results show that the operator remains the fastest and at the fastest speeds for fiber optic internet. At the same time, other independent tests confirm the quality and leadership position on 5G and fixed networks.

The network’s performance was put to the test this summer in some of the biggest events in Romania. Orange Romania provided connectivity for events such as Beach, Please!, Summer Well, Untold, the big concerts on the National Arena, as well as for the Nibiru resort or the BIAS air show.

For each of these events, Orange built an infrastructure adapted to a medium-sized city, with kilometers of fiber optics, dozens of mobile antennas, hundreds of Wi-Fi access points and other equipment. At the busiest event among those where Orange was a partner, the network simultaneously supported over 146,000 connected users.

“The fact that we offer the highest speeds for both mobile and fixed internet is both a source of pride and the result of our commitment to constantly support Romania’s technological future. The ANCOM study is the gold standard for measurements and we are proud of this achievement, for the ninth consecutive year. These results also confirm that we are not only looking at the numbers resulting from a speed test, but at how connectivity can improve everyone’s lives. Orange has turned summer festivals into ‘digital cities’, and this has shown that innovation is not just about technology, but about always being where customers need us”, said Julien Ducarroz, CEO of Orange Romania.

5G Standalone, tested for the first time at large-scale events

The performance of the Orange network was also supported this summer by the first testing of 5G Standalone technology in Romania. The company successfully tested the technology for the first time in Romania at the major concerts held in Bucharest, followed by the most popular festivals of the summer:

Beach, Please!, Untold and Summer Well. Through 5G Standalone solutions, Orange has ensured stable and seamless operational connectivity for the authorities, organizers and their partners.

Through Network Slicing technology, essential services such as payment systems, video transmissions, monitoring, operational coordination, video communications or other critical services have benefited from a dedicated network, independent of the traffic generated by the rest of the users.

At the same time, Orange also conducted the first test of 5G Standalone technology for residential customers.

Speeds of up to 1,500 Mbps over 5G+

Orange is the only network in Romania that uses the real capabilities of 5G/5G+ technology, through the new series of Fast Track 5G+ subscriptions. They offer a premium internet browsing experience, with a speed of up to 1,500 Mbps, wherever there is 5G+ coverage, for customers with intensive usage needs, whether it is streaming, gaming or large downloads.

For Romanians who have not experienced Orange’s mobile internet so far, the company offers the opportunity to test the service with 100 GB, for 15 days, free of charge, by accessing this link.
