DONA Group reports sales of 2 billion RON, up 13 percent in first half of 2026

    Published on

DONA Group reported sales of more than RON 2 billion in the first half of 2026, representing a 13.2 percent increase compared with the same period last year. The company continued to support the development of its Retail and Distribution divisions through investments of approximately RON 10.8 million, primarily focused on distribution for medical optics and the acquisition of pharmacy licenses.

“First-half results confirm DONA Group’s ability to continue gaining market share in a challenging economic and consumer environment. This performance is underpinned by the mature, stable and experienced team we have built over time, both in pharmacies and distribution. The close collaboration between the two divisions has enabled us to respond quickly to market changes and maintain high standards of service for patients and partners. Our people remain one of the Group’s key competitive advantages and an essential element of its long-term development,” said Andrei Condrea, General Manager of DONA Distribution.

The DONA pharmacy network recorded a 15.2 percent increase in sales in the first half of the year. Growth was driven primarily by prescription medicines, as well as by the expansion of the network, which currently comprises 336 pharmacies nationwide. Five new pharmacies were opened during the first six months of the year, while three transactions for the acquisition of pharmacy licenses are currently underway. In the second half of the year, DONA Group will continue expanding its network and strengthening its national presence.

The Distribution division also recorded strong growth, with sales increasing by 11.5 percent in the first half of the year. At the same time, the division is strengthening its partnerships with independent pharmacies and hospitals by expanding its product portfolio and continuing to diversify its operations through the development of new business lines.

Net sales in the veterinary division increased by approximately 5.2 percent, despite challenging market conditions caused by the change in the VAT rate applicable to veterinary medicines, from the reduced rate of 9 percent to the standard rate of 21 percent. Following the signing of new supply agreements and the expansion of its product portfolio, the division has grown its team to 42 employees, while its customer base has exceeded 1,200, including veterinary clinics and pharmacies, as well as farms across Romania.

DONA Group’s medical optics distribution business, launched in March 2026, has already surpassed 100 customers. By the end of the year, the Group expects to work with more than 300 optical retailers across Romania.
