E.ON Energie România installed more than 1,200 residential photovoltaic (PV) systems during the first six months of 2026 through its E.ON Solar Home program, marking a 30% increase compared with the same period last year. The company has now surpassed 10,500 residential solar installations completed since the program’s launch in 2020.
According to a study conducted by E.ON Energie România in June 2026, Romanian consumers continue to show strong interest in solar energy. Nearly 17% of respondents said they intend to purchase a photovoltaic system within the next 12 months, a level unchanged from last year.
The survey also found that adoption of residential solar systems is increasing steadily. The share of households that already own a photovoltaic installation rose from 8% to 11% over the past year.
When choosing a solar solution, respondents identified the system warranty, price per installed kilowatt, and the availability of technical support and maintenance services as the most important decision-making factors.
Energy storage is also becoming an integral part of residential solar investments. While only around 10% of E.ON’s residential installations included battery storage in previous years, the figure climbed to 91% in the first half of 2026.
“The 30% increase in installations during the first half of the year shows that demand for photovoltaic systems remains strong even without a new funding round under the Green House Photovoltaics programme. The market is maturing, with investment decisions increasingly driven by long-term financial benefits and the desire for greater energy independence, rather than subsidies alone. At the same time, we are seeing battery storage become the new standard for residential customers, with nine out of ten systems we install now including batteries,” said Claudia Griech, General Manager of E.ON Energie România.
The survey also indicates growing interest in battery storage among consumers. Fifteen percent of respondents said they plan to purchase an energy storage system, while 51% of homeowners who already have a photovoltaic system intend to add a battery within the next 12 months.
