Strategic move on the energy market: WALDEVAR Holding acquires high-voltage power grid expert Elemo and launches WALDEVAR Power Grid

    Published on

This strategic move integrates critical expertise in power grids for any standardized voltage level in Romania (0.4 kV – 750 kV), transforming WALDEVAR into an integrated energy infrastructure group that provides design-generation-final connection and operation and maintenance throughout the lifetime of renewable energy projects.

WALDEVAR Holding, a leading provider of Turnkey EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) solutions for large photovoltaic and hybrid parks, announces the completion of the strategic acquisition of Elemo, a recognized expert with a tradition of over 30 years in high and very high voltage electrical infrastructure. With this integration, Elemo will operate under a new brand identity: WALDEVAR Power Grid.

This acquisition marks a paradigm shift in the regional energy sector. Grid connection capacity has become the main delay factor for renewable energy projects. By integrating Elemo’s massive capabilities in the execution of high and very high voltage overhead power lines (LEAs) (over 400 kV), WALDEVAR completes its portfolio of complete services. The Group now has total control of the value chain: design, construction, integration of BESS (battery energy storage system), hybridization and essentially, connection to the National Energy System through its own resources.

    Leadership Vision

“Building a photovoltaic park is only part of the equation. Fast and secure grid connection is the critical point where large-scale projects face the greatest challenges. By integrating Elemo’s elite expertise and launching WALDEVAR Power Grid, we are no longer just an EPC, but an integrated and complete energy infrastructure group. We are massively reducing project risks for investors because we have the capacity to build large PV projects in full capacity and, as of today, we have the full strength, skills and resources to connect them to the national grid.”— Christian Leonte, CEO WALDEVAR Holding

“Since 1994, our team has been the ‘invisible technical force’ behind Romania’s high-voltage infrastructure. Moving under the WALDEVAR umbrella and evolving into the WALDEVAR Power Grid gives us the platform and capital to scale operations to the next level. We will continue to serve our traditional customers with the same engineering rigor, now supported by the logistical strength of a leading European group.”— Ioan Popoviciu, General Manager WALDEVAR Power Grid (formerly Elemo)

The strategic pillars of the new WALDEVAR Power Grid entity:

    · Acceleration of interconnection: Investors and developers now benefit from accelerated project execution, with WALDEVAR Power Grid taking full responsibility for the design, execution and maintenance of the connection infrastructure, eliminating dependence on third-party sub-contractors.

    · Unprecedented financial and logistical strength: WALDEVAR Power Grid combines Elemo’s agility and execution strength with the robust financial structure of the WALDEVAR Group, instantly becoming a heavy-caliber partner for transmission and distribution operators.

    · Elite technical expertise: Taking over the portfolio that includes the execution of over 1500 km of high voltage lines, the installation of over 4000 km of fiber optics (OPGW) on high voltage lines, complex helicopter assembly operations and expertise certified by ANRE superior certifications (C1 B, D1, D2, E2).
