On War Veterans Day, Electrica Furnizare honors a debt to those who defended Romania by launching the “Energy of Gratitude” initiative

    Published on

Romania’s power grid was rebuilt throughout the last century by generations who experienced war firsthand. Today, the light in our homes is, to a large extent, part of the legacy left by those who defended our right to live in safety. As a sign of appreciation for this legacy, Electrica Furnizare is launching the social initiative “Energy of Gratitude,” through which veterans and widows of the Second World War will receive 100 kWh of free electricity every month for one year.

The 100 kWh granted each month covers the basic energy needs of a household: lighting, a refrigerator, and essential appliances. In everyday terms, it means a year of evenings with light, spent in the peace of a home where life can continue naturally.

“For Electrica, stability is a daily responsibility. For war veterans, stability was a duty fulfilled at a price we cannot equal. This initiative is not a marketing gesture; it is recognition—within the limits of what we can do month by month—of a debt that society owes to those who defended it. For war widows, our gratitude carries special weight, as they bear the burden of the absence of those who never returned home,” said Alexandru Chiriță, CEO of Electrica and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Electrica Furnizare.

The initiative is addressed to veterans and widows of the Second World War, as defined under Law no. 44/1994. Details regarding registration and the mechanism are available on electricafurnizare.ro.
