Electromontaj transforms, together with Vodafone Romania, the Alba Iulia station into the first digital electrical station in Romania

    Published on

The project carried out for Transelectrica has a total value of 476 million lei and an implementation period of 44 months

Electromontaj, part of the EM Group, in association with Vodafone Romania, the leader of the association, signed with Transelectrica the contract for the implementation of the project “Pilot Project – Refurbishment of the 220/110/20 kV Alba Iulia Substation in a digital substation concept”, a premiere for the Electricity Transmission Network.

The project aims to refurbish the electrical installations related to the voltage levels of 220 kV, 110 kV and 20 kV and the integration of new digital capabilities, to increase safety and reliability in operation and improve the monitoring of the technical condition of the assets.

Electromontaj contributes to the refurbishment of electrical installations and the integration of components necessary for digitalization, capitalizing on the experience gained in over 75 years of activity in the energy field. The company carries out construction-assembly works for electrical equipment and installations, command-control systems, metering and monitoring of energy quality.

At the same time, it will provide the Building Management System (BMS), the new smart and passive building, as well as solutions for monitoring installations and operating conditions. The company will also implement a photovoltaic installation and E-Mobility infrastructure and will contribute to the construction of the new Digital Laboratory.

Being a pilot project, the initiative will allow the validation, in real operating conditions, of new technologies, working methods and skills. By centralizing and analyzing data from distinct equipment and systems, the digital solution can provide a clearer picture of their status and support operation and maintenance decisions. The experience and solutions validated in Alba Iulia will be able to be capitalized on in future projects dedicated to energy infrastructure.

“The modernization of the energy sector is not limited to the development of new capacities, but also involves rethinking the way we use the existing infrastructure and the data it generates. For Electromontaj, the Alba Iulia project represents a leap:

we are moving from modernizing the electrical infrastructure to developing solutions that can define the new generation of substations. It is an opportunity to open new directions in the sector and to contribute to its long-term evolution”, said Ionuț Tănăsoaica, CEO of Electromontaj.
