UniCredit Bank Romania and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have signed a EUR 100 million financing agreement aimed at supporting investments made by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Mid-Caps in Romania.
The facility will help improve access to financing for Romanian companies, with a particular focus on innovation and digitalization projects, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the local economy and accelerating technological transformation.
The funds will be used to finance investments and development needs of eligible companies across various sectors of the economy, contributing to increased private investment, job creation, and the strengthening of Romania’s business environment resilience.
Andrei Bratu, Executive Vice President Corporate, UniCredit Bank Romania: “This new facility provided by the European Investment Bank represents an important instrument through which we can support the development of Romanian companies. The financing will enable UniCredit Bank to offer its clients long-term resources under competitive conditions, with a strong focus on investments in innovation and digitalization. We expect a significant portion of the funds to support companies undergoing accelerated growth, thus contributing to the development of a more competitive and resilient entrepreneurial sector.”
