The Tinmar Foundation and the Always Close Foundation join forces for children with heart disease: the project “Every heart counts” (p)

    Published on

The Tinmar Foundation has joined the “Every heart counts” project carried out by the Always Close Foundation, dedicated to saving the lives of children diagnosed with congenital heart defects. It is an initiative that aims to equip the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of the Marie Curie Children’s Emergency Clinical Hospital with premium medical equipment, indispensable for the diagnosis, operation and monitoring of complex cases.

In Romania, between 1,200 and 1,500 children are born annually with congenital heart malformations, and for many of them, time, accuracy of diagnosis and surgery can make the difference between life and death.

The first step in the project was made by purchasing two echocardiographs, one mobile, for diagnosis and monitoring, and one necessary for the Operating Room of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of the Marie Curie Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children. The new equipment for the Operating Room is not just a regular ultrasound machine, but an essential intraoperative echocardiography equipment, used to guide and verify pediatric cardio surgeries.

Through its involvement in this project, the Tinmar Foundation reaffirms its mission to invest in health, education and the development of communities in Romania, supporting initiatives that produce lasting changes and provide access to high-performance medical services .

The involvement of the Tinmar Foundation in the “Every Heart Counts” project of the Always Close Foundation is an example of collaboration between organizations that share the same conviction: when resources, experience and solidarity are put at the service of people, social impact can transform destinies.

“We strongly believe that every child deserves the chance at a healthy life, and access to high-performance medical technology can often mean the difference between hope and suffering. Through the partnership with the Always Close Foundation, we join an approach that responds to a real need of the Romanian medical system and contribute to creating better conditions for diagnosing and treating children with heart conditions. At the Tinmar Foundation, social responsibility means investments with a long-term impact, and children’s health is one of the most important causes we choose to support.” – Ioan BRATU, President of the Tinmar Foundation

The anatomy of the heart in children with birth defects is very complex: dimensions of only a few centimeters and, in the case of newborns, blood vessels with diameters of only a few millimeters. The new equipment confirms the diagnosis before the start of the operation, guides the surgeon during the intervention, checks, before closing the incision, if the operation is successful, evaluates the function of the heart immediately after exiting the extracorporeal circulation.

“Every year, 1,500 children are born in Romania with congenital heart defects, and for too many of them time is not patient. Today, only half of them get to benefit from the surgery

that can save their lives. We cannot change the diagnosis with which a child is born, but we can do everything in our power so that more and more children with sick hearts arrive in the operating room on time and have doctors who have the best equipment by their side. That’s why every piece of equipment we manage to bring to a hospital means more precision for the medical team and a chance for another child to return home healthy. We appreciate that all the partners of the Always Close Foundation in this project have chosen to believe, together with us, that every heart counts and that every child deserves all the chances that medicine can offer today.” – Adriana PAVA, director of the Always Close Foundation

The investment will contribute to reducing the number of invasive procedures, increasing the success rate of surgeries and improving the quality of the medical act in one of the two public pediatric cardiology centers that Romania currently has .

The “Every Heart Matters” project, carried out by the Always Close Foundation and supported by the Tinmar Foundation, aims to equip the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of the Marie Curie Children’s Emergency Clinical Hospital with several essential, state-of-the-art medical equipment. For the first stage of the project alone, the costs exceed 350,000 euros. The Tinmar Foundation invites companies, partners and the general public to join this initiative to contribute to the complete endowment of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of the Marie Curie Children’s Emergency Clinical Hospital with essential medical equipment, demonstrating that solidarity can save lives.
