The British Romanian Chamber of Commerce (BRCC) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 3rd June 2026 at the offices of EY, Bucharest Tower Center, bringing together members of the Chamber, business leaders, and representatives of the Romanian and British business communities.
The AGM provided the opportunity for the leadership to present the strategic intent of BRCC, emphasizing the past year’s agenda of governance and capability rebuild, alongside the Chamber’s milestones, such as the Liverpool and Manchester economic mission.
Robert Uzună, Chairman of the Board of BRCC and Vice President Ursus Breweries: “The event took place following one of the most intense trade years between Romania and the United Kingdom, as in 2025 the two countries reached £10.3 billion in total trade in goods and services, a record number for the recent past. It is the mission of BRCC to be a catalyst in fostering these developments and we are proud to embark alongside our institutional partners and members on yet another journey leading to further strengthening the bilateral relationships between our two countries.”
The AGM addressed the Chamber’s ordinary business related to its governance, while members also considered and unanimously voted on a special resolution regarding the adoption of updated Articles of Association of the Chamber. Two new board members were elected: Peter Latos, Partner and EY Parthenon Leader for Romania & Moldova, and Ovidiu Demetrescu, Founding Partner of London Brokers and OCD Capital & Resource. In addition, at a Board meeting following the AGM, Daniela Necefor, Managing Partner at Total Business Solutions was co-opted as an additional director and James Grindley, Lucian Dănilescu and Mamas Koutsoyiannis also accepted co-option to the Board for a further year of service. Mihai Marinescu, Business Transformation Director at EY Romania and Moldova retired from the Board and was warmly thanked for his service to the Chamber.
The event concluded with a networking session, providing members and guests with the opportunity to engage with the newly elected Board and strengthen business connections within the BRCC community.
For the first time in the BRCC history, the evening featured keynote remarks and messages from representatives of the Embassy of Romania to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the British Embassy Bucharest, and the British Chambers of Commerce, highlighting the continued importance of strengthening bilateral economic relations and supporting the growth of the UK–Romania business corridor:
Giles Portman, His Majesty’s Ambassador to Romania, Honorary President of BRCC:
“The UK–Romania economic relationship continues to demonstrate resilience and steady growth, even in a complex international environment. Trade flows, investment, and business engagement between our countries are expanding in both directions, reflecting not only strong commercial fundamentals but also a deepening strategic partnership. Enduring trade relationships are built not only on capital and opportunity, but on trust, consistency, and strong professional networks. These are precisely the strengths that organisations like the Chamber can nurture. I look forward to continuing our cooperation in support of a more dynamic, transparent, and prosperous UK–Romania economic partnership.”
E.S. Laura Popescu, Ambasadorul României în Regatul Unit al Marii Britanii și Irlandei de Nord:
“Romania is well positioned for this new phase of the bilateral economic relationship. We have a competitive economy, strong integration within the European Single Market, a strategic location on the Black Sea, and an increasingly important role in emerging regional connectivity corridors. At the same time, British expertise in technology, energy, finance, and professional services creates strong foundations for more innovative cooperation and higher value-added partnerships.
The British Romanian Chamber of Commerce plays an essential role in this dynamic, helping to strengthen ties between our business communities and unlock the opportunities offered by the bilateral relationship. The excellent collaboration between the BRCC and Romania’s diplomatic missions in the United Kingdom, further reinforced through the economic events held in Liverpool and Manchester in February, reflects a shared vision of economic diplomacy-one that is firmly grounded in the realities of the business environment, practical cooperation, and openness to new opportunities for partnership and growth.”
Anne-Marie Martin FCMI, Director of Membership UK & International, British Chambers of Commerce:
“The BRCC plays a vital role in strengthening the economic relationship between the United Kingdom and Romania, helping businesses build valuable connections, access new markets, and benefit from the strength and reach of the British Chambers of Commerce network. As the world’s second largest global chamber network, BCC is proud to support BRCC’s members with access to international opportunities, business insight, and a powerful community of businesses across the UK and around the world.”
The BRCC remains committed to fostering bilateral trade, investment, and professional collaboration between Romania and the United Kingdom, while continuing to provide a strong platform for dialogue and growth for its members and partners.
