The first documented history of modern Romanian real estate has been officially launched “The LEGACY – 35 Years of Real Estate in Romania” (1990–2025)

    Published on

The volume “The LEGACY – 35 Years of Real Estate in Romania” was officially launched during an exclusive event that brought together industry leaders, founders and key professionals, marking the introduction of the first documented history of modern Romanian real estate (1990–2025).

Developed by Retail 365 under The Real Estate Event platform, this editorial project represents an unprecedented initiative that documents three decades of profound transformation within the real estate market, bringing together the perspectives of those who built its foundations alongside the vision of the new generation of developers.

“It is a great joy to officially launch a limited edition volume that we have worked on for almost a year, together with the entire industry. We see this project as a recognition of the Romanian real estate market’s journey, a book that accurately documents its evolution over the past 35 years. At the same time, it is the result of a collective effort, and we are grateful that so many key players chose to get involved and contribute,” said Loredana Popa, Founder & CEO of Retail 365 & The Real Estate Event.

A project designed as a bridge between generations

The volume was conceived as a platform for intergenerational dialogue, bringing together the stories of the pioneers who laid the foundations of the market after 1990 and the perspectives of those shaping its future today.

Under the editorial coordination of Ionut Bonoiu, Founder of BusinessPedia.ro and a journalist with over 25 years of experience in business media, the book provides a relevant and credible overview of the Romanian real estate market’s evolution.

The LEGACY is not a chronicle of projects and returns. It is the story of an industry that built its own rules and, in doing so, redefined how we live and work. The next 35 years will not be about how much we build, but about how we build and for whom,” said Ionut Bonoiu.

A key moment on stage: dialogue on risk, decisions and long-term vision

One of the most significant moments of the evening was the conversation moderated by Ionut Bonoiu, alongside two of the most influential leaders in the industry: Andrei Diaconescu, Co-Founder of One United Properties, and Sorin Preda, Founder & CEO of Global Vision. The discussion went beyond a standard business analysis, exploring critical decisions, moments of risk and the way a true legacy is built over time.

I believe one of the most important things in business is the ability to move forward even when things are not clear or easy. Throughout our journey, there have been moments when the risks were real and the decisions difficult, but we learned that solutions almost always exist, the difference is how far you are willing to search and how consistent you remain with your vision,” said Andrei Diaconescu.

In turn, Sorin Preda highlighted the importance of clarity and courage in decision-making:

In entrepreneurship, challenges are not the exception, but the rule. I believe success comes from clarity, knowing exactly what you want to build, and from the courage to make decisions when it matters, even in the absence of full consensus. In real estate, we build ecosystems and communities, and our responsibility is to think long-term and create lasting impact.”

The essential contribution of consultancy companies

A defining component of the volume is its market analysis, supported by some of the most important real estate consultancy companies active in Romania: CBRE Romania, Colliers Romania, Cushman & Wakefield Echinox and SVN Romania.

During the event, their contribution was acknowledged for its essential role in building this comprehensive industry overview:

    • Laura Dumea-Bencze – Head of Research & Director Investment Properties, CBRE Romania
    • Cristina Lupascu – Head of Marketing, Cushman & Wakefield Echinox
    • Catalin Stefancu – Head of Research & Communication, SVN Romania
    • Silviu Pop – Director CEE & Romania Research and Robert Miklo – Partner, Head of Capital Markets, Colliers Romania

Their combined expertise provided a complete perspective across all major market segments: residential, office, retail, industrial and investment.

A new initiative launched: The Real Estate Event – Media Hub

The event also introduced a new industry initiative: The Real Estate Event – Media Hub, a concept designed to connect and amplify the most relevant voices in real estate.

Conceived as a dynamic space for dialogue and content, the Media Hub brought together leaders, experts and valuable perspectives, enabling multi-channel distribution of insights. In partnership with Ziare.com and BusinessPedia.ro, the hub captured and highlighted key insights and impactful perspectives, which will be further integrated into the extended ecosystem of The Real Estate Event.

An industry looking confidently towards the future

The launch event reflected not only the remarkable evolution of the industry over the past 35 years, but also the level of maturity and responsibility with which it looks towards the future.

In a context where urban development is gaining new dimensions, The LEGACY becomes both an archive of the past and a tool for understanding and navigating what lies ahead.
