Eurowind Energy Romania inaugurates the Pecineaga Wind Farm: 90-million-euro investment and 48 MW of green energy

    Published on

Eurowind Energy, a Danish developer and operator of renewable projects, announces the official opening of the Pecineaga Wind Farm, a strategic investment of approximately 90 million euros. With an installed capacity of 48 MW, the farm adds green energy to the national grid and marks a new important step in Romania’s energy transition. The project is part of the company’s sustained investment plan in Romania, of approximately 300 million euros annually, until 2030.

The Pecineaga wind park, located in Constanța county, is equipped with 8 Siemens Gamesa SG 6.6-170 turbines, the largest wind turbine model installed in Romania. This model is state-of-the-art technology optimized for high efficiency, including in low-wind conditions. The turbines have 135-meter towers, 85-meter blades, and a maximum height of 220 meters, making the project a benchmark for the wind technology currently deployed on the local market.

Adrian Dobre, Country Manager Romania, Eurowind Energy, said: “Pecineaga is an important moment for us. We are talking about an investment of approximately 90 million euros, but also about a step forward in the development of Eurowind Energy in Romania, one of the group’s four main markets, along with Poland, Germany and Denmark. With the inauguration of this park, we reach 124 MW operational in Romania and we have another 120 MWh under construction in storage. By 2030, we aim to build a 1 GW portfolio locally in solar, wind and storage. We believe in Romania’s potential and want to contribute, through concrete projects, to a greener, more competitive and more resilient energy system.”

The Pecineaga wind park is expected to generate approximately 176,000 MWh annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of around 48,000 households. The project will therefore contribute to increasing local renewable energy production and integrating a new clean generation capacity into the national energy mix.

Active on the local market since 2011, Eurowind Energy Romania develops and operates renewable energy projects, with a dedicated local team. The company’s portfolio includes four operational solar parks – Hălchiu, Măgurele, Pufești and Teiuș – and a pipeline of approximately 7.5 GW in various stages of development. In Teiuș, Eurowind Energy is also developing a complementary battery energy storage (BESS) project, with a capacity of 120 MWh.

With the inauguration of the Pecineaga wind farm, the company reaches an operational capacity of 124 MW in Romania.
