Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania (DEER) has completed a major project to modernize the electricity distribution infrastructure in Buzău County, following an investment of 20.2 million RON.
The project focused on upgrading medium- and low-voltage electricity networks through essential works aimed at improving infrastructure performance and enhancing service quality for customers.
The main works carried out included:
- replacement of existing medium-voltage switchgear cells with new monitored units;
- replacement of 6/0.4 kV and 20/0.4 kV transformers, with capacities ranging from 160 to 630 kVA, with new low-loss transformers;
- replacement of low-voltage columns with newly designed units;
- installation of new distribution panels;
- replacement of existing meters with new meters compatible with remote reading systems;
- integration of the new equipment into the SCADA system.
As a result of this investment, consumers in the localities of Buzău, Nehoiu, Râmnicu Sărat, and Berca—communities totaling more than 150,000 residents—will benefit from a safer, more efficient electricity distribution service adapted to current consumption and development needs.
The project also delivers several important operational benefits:
- reduction in the number and duration of unplanned power outages;
- higher operational efficiency through lower technological consumption;
- optimal network operating parameters in line with the Performance Standard for electricity distribution services;
- increased network capacity to meet current and future demand, as well as new grid connections.
This investment is part of DEER’s broader strategy to modernize, digitalize, and sustainably develop energy infrastructure, with a focus on increasing network resilience, integrating smart grid solutions, improving distribution service quality, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and sustainable energy system.
