The top 27 specialists from electricity distribution operator Delgaz Grid across nine competition categories, along with three students from partner technical high schools, were awarded at the company stage of the professional contest “Electrician’s Trophy 2026,” held from March 24-26 in Iași.
After two days of theoretical and practical tests, participants showcased their skills in the competition’s ten specializations, confirming the high level of professionalism in electricity distribution. The winners will represent the company at the national stage, scheduled for July, also in Iași.
Over 120 electricians and engineers from Delgaz Grid took part, selected through contests from around 1,000 entrants in the mass stage of the Trophy, which ran in February.
Now in its Xth edition, the “Junior Electrician’s Trophy,” dedicated to future electricians, brought together three students each from N.V. Karpen Technical College in Bacău, “Dimitrie Leonida” High School in Iași, and “Samuil Isopescu” Technical College in Suceava this year.
“In a world increasingly dependent on energy, the role of distribution networks and those who operate them is essential. Performance isn’t just about competition results—it’s also the daily responsibility to ensure the continuity and safety of energy supply. Through professionalism, dedication, and a drive for improvement, our colleagues show that excellence is the standard, not the exception. I thank them for their constant effort and wish them great success at the national stage,” said Cristian Ifrim, Deputy General Director of Delgaz Grid.
Seven electricians from Suceava, five from Bacău, four from Iași, three from Botoșani, and one each from Neamț and Vaslui took the podium amid colleagues’ applause.
In the Distribution Energy Dispatcher specialization, 1st and 2nd places went to Iași, with 3rd to Suceava.
In the engineers’ section, 1st and 2nd places went to Suceava, with 3rd to Iași.
In the Junior Electrician’s Trophy, 1st and 2nd places were won by N.V. Karpen Technical College from Bacău, with 3rd by “Dimitrie Leonida” High School from Iași.
As every year, the event featured exhibition stands from equipment, materials, devices, tools, and measuring instruments manufacturers specific to the field, as well as electrical network construction companies we collaborate with.
The “Electrician’s Trophy” is a traditional event, likely Romania’s longest running and most prestigious professional contest. Its 49-year history began in 1977 and is closely tied to Moldova and the city of Iași, where the first edition took place.
