TenarisSilcotub, Romania’s leading producer of seamless small-diameter steel pipes and related services for the energy, automotive, oil and gas, and other industrial sectors, continues its long-term commitment to technical education by awarding 40 students from five prestigious universities under the Roberto Rocca Scholarship Program, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
This year’s Roberto Rocca scholarships are granted to students from Cluj-Napoca Technical University, National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași, Petroleum and Gas University of Ploiești, and Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca.
“Education is the cornerstone of our social responsibility strategy. We firmly believe that through education, communities are transformed, progress is accelerated, and real opportunities are created for the younger generation to actively contribute to Romania’s industrial development. Our commitment to technical education is strong and long-term, reflected in programs dedicated to all levels of learning,” said Mihaela Popescu, President of Tenaris for Eastern Europe, the North Sea, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Roberto Rocca scholars are selected based on their academic performance from the previous year, as well as their skills demonstrated during assessment centers — key attributes for any successful professional career. Once selected, students can also take part in other programs offered by TenarisSilcotub, such as internships or the Global Trainee Program, designed for those taking their first steps into their careers.
By promoting educational excellence, the program has awarded scholarships to 760 students over its 20-year history and continues to foster strong, long-term connections between students, academia, and the industrial environment.
Over the past two decades in Romania, TenarisSilcotub has been a consistent supporter of technical education, investing more than $20 million in educational programs and projects.
