Electrica Furnizare and Act for Tomorrow Association plant a new forest as part of the “We Plant Energy for the Future” program

As part of an extensive environmental initiative, Electrica Furnizare, together with the Act for Tomorrow Association, contributed to the creation of the largest urban biodiversity hub in Romania, located in Brașov.

Employees of Electrica Furnizare worked side by side with association volunteers and members of the local community, transforming land belonging to the Business Center for Technological Transfer and Business Incubation – CATTIA Brașov – into a future urban ecosystem.

The 10,000 newly planted seedlings and shrubs — including ash, oak, mountain maple, hornbeam, and lavender — will form the new urban forest. The selected species are intended to support biodiversity and help reduce pollution effects.

This initiative, part of Electrica Furnizare’s “We Plant Energy for the Future” program, is a natural continuation of the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, combating climate change, and contributing to the protection of biodiversity.

“Through these planting activities, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability, one of the strategic directions guiding our company’s work. Every seedling or shrub planted means cleaner air, greater responsibility, and an investment in the future of local communities. We plant energy for the future because we believe that small, repeated actions can bring major transformations for people, nature, and the cities we live in,” stated Dan Ioan Morar, Deputy General Director of Electrica Furnizare.

The event in Brașov marks the second initiative carried out together with Act for Tomorrow, following the one held last autumn in Dâmbovița County.

“We are pleased to continue our mission alongside Electrica Furnizare, a partner that shares the same vision of sustainability and environmental responsibility. Planting these seedlings and shrubs at CATTIA – Brașov Business Center – marks the beginning of the largest hub dedicated to urban biodiversity in Romania — a project that will turn this space into a living ecosystem, with real impact for biodiversity and future generations,” said Andrei Coșuleanu, President of Act for Tomorrow Association.

Last year, Electrica Furnizare brought to life the first Electrica Furnizare Forest in Potlogi, Dâmbovița County, where 15,000 acacia seedlings were planted on degraded land undergoing accelerated desertification.
