Lakeside11’s “Float Spot” Concept wins Red Dot Award for redefining urban living
The Lakeside11 residential development by RRG Real Estate Group has been awarded the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2025 in the Urban Design category for its “Float Spot” concept – a system of elevated communal platforms designed to provide safe and multifunctional public spaces within a residential environment.
About the “Float Spot” Concept
The “Float Spot” is a series of elevated platforms at the First Floor, linking residential buildings and accommodating various public functions. The design is inspired by architect Le Corbusier’s principle of raising living and communal spaces above ground level while dedicating the ground floor to infrastructure, commercial areas and parking. In Lakeside11, this approach has been reinterpreted through people-centered principles and adapted to contemporary needs — integrating social spaces that encourage community interaction within a modern urban environment.
By separating these areas from ground-level vehicle traffic, the design improves both safety and comfort for residents.
Development and Collaboration
According to Sergey Artemenko, Project Manager of Lakeside11:
“Float Spot Concept is the result of a collaborative effort by multinational specialists in architecture, mobility, and community planning. We combined international practices in sustainable design with the specific requirements of the Romanian context.”
Project Status
The first phase of Lakeside11, including three residential buildings with 105 apartments, is currently under construction with an expected completion by the end of 2026. Structural works are in the final stages, with the reinforced concrete frame and exterior walls nearing completion. The works are carried out by Consstar Construct SRL.
The total investment in the Lakeside11 project, located on the shores of Straulesti Lake in the capital, amounts to €60 million.
