Secret Donor 3.0 brings the blood collection unit directly to companies, facilitating donation for busy employees, in the context of the constant blood crisis in Romania.

Hidroelectrica, together with the Pastel Association, launches the third edition of the Secret Donor project, a mobile blood donation program organized right at the company headquarters. Carried out in partnership with the Ministry of National Defense (MAPN), the project aims to bring donation closer to active people, through well-equipped mobile units, specialized personnel and a professional logistics framework.

The partner of the edition number 3 is Hidroelectrica, and Secret Donor 3.0 responds to one of the most acute needs in the Romanian healthcare system: the annual deficit of approximately 1.5 million blood units, necessary for oncological treatments, surgical interventions or patients with chronic diseases. The crisis is aggravated by the difficulty of reaching fixed collection centers, especially for the active population, and by the poor knowledge of the conditions and criteria for donation.

“Romania needs blood. It is a painful reality, but also an opportunity: to be part of a community that saves lives. For me, it is a natural gesture, but at the same time profound – a way of being with those in need, without knowing them. I encouraged the members of the Hidroelectrica team to join our campaign, and for those who for some reason could not make this gesture during the campaign, I encourage them to go to the transfusion centers in Bucharest and around the country. Every donation counts! I thank my colleagues who chose to donate blood, at the Hidroelectrica Headquarters on June 26!”, declared Karoly Borbely, CEO of Hidroelectrica.

“Through Secret Donor, the Pastel Association supports companies in creating a CSR program with real impact: with minimal effort, employees can become responsible donors, contributing to the national blood reserves. We want not only to collect blood, but to contribute to a change in mentality: to transform this gesture into a recurring, simplified, natural practice. From the beginning, the Pastel Association has assumed the role of a partner both for companies that want to get involved in meaningful projects, and for people who want to do good, but need a clear framework. We want to prove that, when you have the right infrastructure, anyone can do good, constantly and with impact”, declared Andreea Oprea, Executive Director, the Pastel Association.

For the smooth running of the campaign, the Ministry of National Defense provides mobile medical equipment and provides the teams of specialists who will carry out the collections. The MAPN expertise guarantees compliance with the highest standards of safety and efficiency within the collection.

“A single donation can save up to three lives. In addition to the immediate impact in hospitals, donation has real benefits for the donor’s health and creates a reflex of collective responsibility. It is a simple but profound gesture”, said Lieutenant Colonel Tofan Laurențiu – Head of the Donor Consultations and Harvesting Section within the CTS of the Ministry of National Defense Col. prof. dr. Nicolae Nestorescu

Among the corporate partners of the current edition are Hidroelectrica, along with other companies involved in social responsibility programs. Previous editions of the Secret Donor project were carried out in collaboration with the Medikali Clinic and the Medikali and Kellanova Associations, generating a wave of solidarity among the employees involved and the communities in the vicinity of the two partners.

A donor can save up to 3 lives. 35 donors participated in Secret Donor 3.0, contributing to saving up to 105 lives.
